Silam Coast Conservation Area (SCCA) comprises of the Tumunong Hallu Forest Reserve, the Bangkuruan Mangrove Forest Reserve and the two islands off its coast - Pulau Saranga and Pulau Tabun.  These two islands were classified as Amenity Forest Reserve (Class IV) by the Sabah State Cabinet in August 2009 to facilitate management by Yayasan Sabah.  Significantly, the coastal forest of SCCA also fringes Darvel Bay which is one of the world's richest marine areas in terms of biodiversity and is part of The Coral Triangle.  SCCA's unique evolutionary history and biodiversity make it an ideal location for research, training and environmental education program on geology, coastal forest, mangrove and marine ecology and conservation.  Due to its strategic location and biodiversity richness, SCCA is an ideal destination for eco-recreation.
